C&M recently purchased cutters for our CNC to produce complex shapes at higher speeds. This new cutter, or "end mill", has precision round replaceable carbide inserts that can be run 2 to 5 times faster than normal carbide end mills. The insert design results in considerable time and cost savings compared to the previous design that had to be replaced in whole when worn and results in faster molded part production for our customers. This technology also eliminates the need for a secondary finishing operation of surface grinding. Since the end mills can cut abnormal angles and shapes with better accuracy, the cut is done once without the need for any further shaping.
