Industrial cables & assemblies

C&M is a cable manufacturer aware of the extreme demands of industrial applications. Flexible power and control cables are an integral part of industrial automation. C&M can provide power cables and control cables to meet the most demanding specifications. When engineering your flexible, control and/or power cable or cable assembly, we think about every single demand that could possibly be placed on it. Our control cables are ideal for robotic, tray cable and C-track applications. C&M manufactures Devicenet™ cables in standard and high-flex versions for use in networking industrial devices and controllers in automated factory environments. C&M is one of the few manufacturers with the capabilities of producing the high-flex version of Devicenet™ cables. We’re ready for any challenge to industrial cable solutions, such as:

  • high- and continuous-flex applications
  • different types of flex: rolling, bending, torsional and variable/mixed
  • adherence to UL and CSA standards
  • podding (combining multiple functions into a single cable)
  • space constraints
  • mobility, modularity and portability
  • resistance to environmental challenges like abrasion, flame, grease, oil, dirt, welding slag, paint, chemicals, and temperature extremes

CM-Megaflex™ Rugged Industrial Control Cable with Millions and Millions of Flex-Life history

C&M Corporation offers, Megaflex™, the ultimate in high-flex/torsion cable for industrial applications. Megaflex™, a rugged multi-conductor, high-flex/torsion, industrial control cable  is ideal for industrial robots and C-track applications. Megaflex™ cable, with over 32 million flex-cycles recorded, outlasts the machinery they’re installed on.

Industrial machinery that almost never stops, needs cable that can keep up. When C&M engineered this industrial cable, they considered every single demand that could possibly be placed on it. Paying particular attention to considerations
that are vital to robotics, such as:

  • High- and continuous-flex applications.
  • Different types of flex: rolling, bending,
    torsional and variable/mixed
  • Adherence to UL and CSA standards
  • Space constraints
  • Mobility, modularity and portability

C&M industrial cables are so thoroughly engineered that their average lifecycle is ten years — longer than much of the equipment they’re designed to be part of. Of course, the extensive customization capabilities of C&M means they can design cables to meet your specific needs, especially for the Robotics Industry.

C&M Industrial Cable Success Story

A dangerous electrical problem was plaguing a large manufacturer of outdoor cooling systems. Their power cords kept shorting out when the systems were installed in wet environments. There were two causes for the shorts: moisture seeping into the connector plug at the coolant circulating pump, and coolant wicking up the power cord to the power supply panel. The shorts created serious safety hazards and caused costly downtime.

We were able to solve both problems by reengineering one of our existing tools to serve as an overmold and applying it onto the cord connector itself. We completely eliminated electrical shorts at the connector and made it impossible for coolant to wick through the power cord. We also added a strain relief configuration to the back of the plug to relieve any bending stress on the internal conductors.

C&M not only solved this customer’s initial electrical integrity problems, we also prevented future wear problems — all at minimal cost. In fact, they were so pleased with the results that they have since turned to us to solve several other knotty cable assembly problems.
